The Crack is one of the most memorable hikes in Killarney Provincial Park, but it still feels far less obvious than the classic Rocky Mountain viewpoints that usually dominate Canadian travel feeds. The route climbs into the white quartzite ridges of the La Cloche Mountains, where pale stone, dark pine forest, and blue lakes create a landscape that looks almost unreal for Ontario. The final section is the reason the trail is famous: a steep, boulder-filled cleft in the ridge that opens onto a panoramic view over Killarney’s lakes and rolling quartzite hills. It is not a casual city walk - hikers should expect uneven terrain, exposed rock, and a real climb near the end - but the reward is one of the most photogenic inland viewpoints in the province.
