Cascade des Tufs is one of the Jura's most atmospheric natural stops. Water from the Dard resurfaces from the limestone system and flows across tufa deposits, creating a wide, textured cascade draped in moss. Its appearance changes dramatically through the year: higher water in wetter months, frost and ice in winter, and a greener but sometimes quieter scene during dry summer periods. The waterfall can be combined with the village of Baume-les-Messieurs, its abbey, viewpoints, and the nearby caves. The outdoor waterfall area itself is separate from the paid cave visit.
