Count Cesare Mattei built Rocchetta Mattei on the remains of the medieval Rocca di Savignano. Instead of following a single historical style, he created a deliberately theatrical residence where neo-medieval towers meet Moorish arcades, striped arches, painted surfaces, hidden passages, and early-twentieth-century Liberty rooms. The result feels closer to a dream set than a conventional Italian castle. Visits are possible only with a guide and advance booking because the interior is arranged as a maze of staircases, halls, and narrow connections. The standard tour lasts about one hour. The official site currently lists a base ticket of EUR 10, while the Emilia-Romagna castle network publishes some 2026 visits at EUR 12; the live booking calendar should therefore be treated as the final price and schedule. Elevators support access, but strollers and pets are not permitted inside. Quick tips: Найкращий час: Late morning for courtyards and interiors
